I took this photo at the Garden Island Ships Graveyard in Adelaide, South Australia. I arrived well before sunrise and wandered through the mangrove trees until the light began to shift towards day and I saw this lone boat off the shore. To frame the photograph, I had to wade waist deep into the water and submerge the tripod so that the camera was hovering just over the water. As soon as the sun began to rise, a dense fog rolled in and blanketed the scene with its magic. It was such an unexpected gift and I knew I was seeing something really special. This photo was taken with a 10-stop ND filter and a 15 second exposure to soften the reflection of the water and create an ethereal image.
